Artist’s statement:

As a bisexual, middle-aged American woman with invisible disabilities, I began this piece 24 days into the fascist dictatorship.

With roughly 8 hours of careful tracing of this photo by Alan Marsh, and north of 75 hours of work to complete it, I've found that focusing on this piece has been a cathartic meditation on HOPE in the midst of darkness and bloodshed as the Trump/Elon administration has swiftly dismantled the US government, Constitution, civil liberties, and the agencies which protect and provide for us, the nation's citizens.

My most ambitious piece to date, with 2 years of self-taught experience, I used bright colors to contrast with the blackness representing evil intent and deeds.Bloody shades of red represent the callous actions taken to harm the most vulnerable in our midst.

I painted a pastel rainbow spectrum on the window itself to represent both the PRIDE of the queer community and the HOPE that God promised.I further used gradients of white, cream, orange, and red on the filigree highlights to represent additional spectra of diversity, and the beauty they add to the greater picture.

For indeed, the binary, MONOCHROME world our government prefers is far less interesting or beautiful.
